Immunology and Neurodiversity Link?

Why? If not the vaccines ... is it the immunology of rare individuals (with ASD genetics)? I. Introduction Research suggests a significant link between autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) with immune system abnormalities, indicating that issues with the immune system may play a role in the development of these neurodevelopmental disorders; studies have shown elevated levels of inflammatory cytokines, altered immune cell populations, and potential connections to autoimmune diseases in individuals with ASD and ADHD, particularly when considering a family history of allergies or autoimmune conditions. Key points about the connection between autism, ADHD, and immunology:  Immune dysregulation: Both ASD and ADHD are increasingly associated with an imbalance in the immune system, showing elevated levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines which can impact brain development and function.  Maternal immune activation: Research indicates that a ...

Thoughts about ADHD and ASD Evolution and Environment: Neurodiversity and Hunter/Gatherers and Farmers?

I. Introductory thought   Harold Schranz : Wondering about my family history and the ASD and ADHD genetics throughout the extended family. Tyrolean genetics and epigenetics under the pressures of a harsh environment; steep isolated mountains often with many metres of snow is possibly an ideal place for independent minded creative adaptable individuals with ADHD and/or ASD (AuDHD).  Lots of academic literature and lived experiences ties it all together. (e.g. https://www.psychologytoday.com/au/blog/the-biology-of-human-nature/202211/did-adhd-evolve-to-help-us ). There is a hunter vs farmer gene hypothesis - a collection of genes might be more likely - and I wonder if ADHD relates to hunter/gatherers and perhaps ASD relates better to farmers (a farm, seasons, predictability, .... not sure if anyone has considered an adaptive advantage for ASD (ADHD seems to be readily framed as ideal for hunting, avoiding predation and hyperfocus on the prey. ChatGPT : Your hypothesis is quite...
